Sophie and the Memory of Trees (2023)

First reading and reading by parents with children

When someone cuts down an alley of ancient trees on the dam of a pond, great-grandmother is very sad. Her parents and grandparents remembered the trees, and as a child she played under them. Sophie begins to understand how time passes and that it is important to know about her ancestors.

The story develops the children’s relationship with the landscape around us and with their own roots. And it ends with hope: The pupils of the local school have planted a new alley behind the village. Sophie also plants her first tree – a memory for future generations.
